I started working with stone almost by accident in 1999, when my local footpath group sponsored a project to create waymarkers.

My contribution was this double -faced head

In July 2005 I took part in the International Sculpture Symposium organised by Galerie 'H' in Vejprty, Czech Republic.

My project there was the sphinx pictured below. Unfortunately, this piece was unfinished at the end of the ten days duration of the symposium.

Although I carve stone and soapstone whenever the opportunity arises, because of restricted work space most of my time is spent on lettering.

I work entirely by hand, other than for the trimming, shaping and drilling aspects. This means that each piece is completely individual, and designed specifically for a particular purpose and location.

As I am not adept at caligraphy, I use my computer to produce layouts for most of my work. Depending on the style of lettering preferred, usually formal or cursive, I can use any font I have on file, or which you can provide. From this, I produce one or more layouts either to scale or, for smaller pieces, actual size for approval by the client. You also has the choice of stone. I usually have both slate and portland stone in stock. Other kinds of stone can be obtained, but this may take time.

When everything has been approved and a price agreed I can usually finish your plaque within a week. I can arrange delivery if you require it.
